New Norwich City boss David Wagner has confirmed forward Josh Sargent will return to the matchday squad for this weekend's game against Preston North End.

He was given a week off prior to the FA Cup game against Blakcburn to recover from a busy few months, including appearances for the USA squad at the Qatar World Cup.

Speaking to the Norwich City website, Wagner said: "It looks like we have the same squad available, plus Josh who is back in training this week."

"Ben (Gibson) is making good progress, back on the grass next week in contention for Coventry. Sam Byram will take six to eight weeks after the injury he has faced.

"We are more than excited. We had a good week, three days of training, one day of double session. Not a whole lot of time but hopefully we can show some progression tomorrow.

"Every day helps to get used to each other a little bit more, to assess the picture. But, as I say, work isn't done in a week. We have to take it step by step and we will do.

"Everybody is excited, you can feel it in training. In the meetings, when we speak about how we like to play football, how we like to defend, everybody is on board."
