Patients at James Paget Hospital among the first to get 'pioneering' diabetes treatment
The new system means young patients automatically get the right dose of insulin
James Paget Hospital in Gorleston has become one of the first in the UK to use a 'pioneering' new treatment for young patients with diabetes.
The Omnipod 5 system is used to help people with type 1 diabetes.
The device is wearable and is paired with a blood sugar monitoring system to deliver insulin automatically when needed.
Until now, young patients were only able to keep an eye on their blood sugar automatically; they would have to administer their own insulin.
The Omnipod also removes the need for patients to have to calculate the correct dose.
