Man jailed for carrying a knife in Norwich

The 39-year-old was found in possession of a folding lock knife.

A man has been sentenced for being in possession of a knife in Norwich.

Stephen Grey, aged 39 and of Lound Road, Norwich appeared at Norwich Magistrates’ Court yesterday (Wednesday 10 April) where he pleaded guilty to possession of a knife in a public place.

In the very early hours of Tuesday (9 April 2024) morning officers were driving along Dereham Road where they spotted Grey who was wanted on recall to prison.

They detained him and while being searched found a folding lock knife on him.

He was arrested and taken to Wymondham Police Investigation Centre for questioning and was later charged and remanded into custody.

Grey appeared at Norwich Magistrates’ Court yesterday (Wednesday 10 April) and received a sentence of 26 weeks in prison and was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £154.
