A man has been jailed for six years after threatening passengers on a bus in Norwich with a meat cleaver.

32 year old Marcus Cork, of Northgate in Hunstanton, admitted to three counts of robbery, possession of a knife, threatening a person with a knife, and damaging property at King's Lynn Crown Court.

The court heard how on October 13 last year Cork boarded an Excel bus heading for Peterborough at Norwich Bus Station, buying a ticket to King's Lynn.

While on the upper floor of the double decker he threatened a passenger with a meat cleave before taking her phone. He also stole a wallet from a second woman.

He then threatened the driver, only managing to steal a bag of sweets.

After smashing the door of the bus he made his way to Newmarket Road, where he threatened a group of young women, stealing a phone and punching one of the group.

After being followed by the group he threatened them with a knife.

Investigating officer PC Faris Shah said: “Cork caused multiple members of the public to fear for their safety and suffer loss or damage to property with no regards for his actions.

“Aggravating the impact was the fact the incidents took place in the day and were witnessed by young children causing distress.”
