Hunstanton could get £3m to support independent living
A proposal for 61 new homes for those over 55 has been announced by Norfolk County Council
Plans to provide affordable housing with care and support in Hunstanton have been proposed by the Council.
61 houses have been earmarked for the seaside town in Norfolk, while the Council have said the investment will come to £3 million.
Cabinet member for Adult Social Care, Cllr Alison Thomas said: “Independent Living gives people the freedom of having their own home, combined with the peace of mind of having care and support on site.
“This kind of housing can help give people the support they need to stay healthier for longer, preventing them from needing to move into a care home as they get older, and helping them to continue living in their communities.”
Norfolk County Council is investing £29 million in similar schemes across the county, with agreements already in place for Fakenham, Acle and Harleston.
Meadow Walk, in Fakenham and Swallowtail Place, in Acle have already opened and work on the Harleston scheme is due to start later this year.
The Council say increasing provision of independent Living to match future demand will also deliver about £6m in savings to the council each year
The proposed investment in Hunstanton will be discussed when the Cabinet meet on Monday 7th August.
