A local campaigner in Hemsby tells us he and others are now lobbying Ministers, to help save what's left of this crumbling coastline.

It's as several properties on the village's seafront were pulled down last month and another is going today- after being deemed unsafe due to coastal erosion.

"Lack of any sort of effort to protect the dunes here that has led us to this place"

Simon Measures lives on 'The Marrams' and is chair of Save Hemsby Coastline:

"It's all about protecting the beach now and persuading those in power to get enough money together to have fish-tail groynes installed here.

"We also have other things that we're look at currently, including a few bits on climate change where we're looking to challenge the Government.

"It's this real lack of any sort of effort to protect the dunes here that has led us to this place.

"We have been saying for a number of years now that the beach is lowering so significantly that even a minor storm can cause real damage.

"For the future- I hope we're listened to and that Hemsby can keep going as a seaside resort. It's been here for so long and it deserves to carry on.

The Government say it's reforming the coastal erosion funding policy to create more sea defences quicker.
