Fans of sausage rolls, steak bakes and sweet treats are in luck as one of the nation’s biggest bakery chains is set to open in a Norfolk coastal town.

A Greggs outlet will soon be opening in Cromer, at the Morrisons garage in Prince of Wales Road.

It follows North Norfolk District Council approving a bid to change the use of part of the building at the site from a storage area to a food outlet.

Applicant Motor Fuel Group (MFG), which operates petrol stations across the nation, has said the changes will create an “improved shopping environment and better facilities for customers” by providing hot food for customers to take away and eat on their journey.

The proposal was supported by the economic development officer for NNDC, who said the Greggs would boost the local economy and create new jobs.

There were no objections to the plans.

In 2018, MFG announced the £1.2 billion acquisition of UK service station operator MRH, taking over 500 stations and the Greggs, SPAR and Hursts brands.

The Morrison’s fuel station will remain open.
