Greater Anglia services disrupted after Storm Henk

Fallen trees have damaged overhead lines

Transport delays will continue across the East today, after rain and strong winds from Storm Henk lashed the region yesterday.

Greater Anglia said train services were experiencing "severe disruptions" in the late hours of Tuesday night due to the storm with "multiple incidents" affecting services across the network.

This morning, they've confirmed disruption is still ongoing, after fallen trees caused damage to overhead wires on their routes.

Currently, they're asking customers not to travel from Ipswich to Cambridge, Norwich and Peterborough in both directions, as repair works take place.

Greater Anglia and Network Rail have apologised for any inconvenience caused, and say they'll keep passengers informed when the situation changes.

Flood alerts and power cuts

The Environment Agency said there were 368 active alerts in England for possible flooding, including a number in the East, along with 322 flood warnings, meaning flooding is expected .

In Northampton, one danger to life severe flood warning is in force.

The Energy Networks Association - which collates data from all energy providers - estimated that 38,000 customers were without power as a direct result of storm damage, as of 7pm on Tuesday.
