Second man charged in connection with Great Yarmouth robbery

A second man has been charged following a robbery in Great Yarmouth that led to the death of a man in his 30s.

Police arrested a man in his 20s on Friday, 16th January. He was taken to Wymondham Police Investigation Centre for questioning before being charged in connection with the incident.

The robbery occurred on Blackfriars Road at around 4am on Sunday, 11th January.

The victim was hospitalised with what initially appeared to be minor injuries, but his condition worsened, and he died at James Paget University Hospital on Tuesday, 13th January.

Angelo Pereira, a 26-year-old from Nelson Road Central, Great Yarmouth, has been charged with robbery and remains in custody.

Pereira is set to appear before Norwich Magistrates' Court on Monday, 19th January.

Another man, Osvaldo Semedo, also known as Miguel and 26 years old, of King Street, Great Yarmouth, has already been charged with robbery in connection to the same incident.

Semedo appeared in court on 14th January and has been remanded into custody ahead of a hearing at Norwich Crown Court on 11th February.

A Home Office post-mortem examination has been conducted, but the cause of the victim’s death remains inconclusive, and further tests are underway.

Police are continuing their enquiries to establish whether anyone else was involved in the robbery.
