Police are urging the public not to share CCTV footage of a murder that took place in Great Yarmouth.

It's after a 23 year old man died on Wellington Road on Wednesday afternoon.

Police were called to Wellington Road shortly after 12.40pm following a disturbance and officers arrived on scene to find a man with serious injuries.

Paramedics also attended but despite treatment, the 23-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A Home Office post-mortem examination is being held to establish the cause of death.

Detectives believe the victim was involved in confrontation with another man on St Peters Road - no one's been arrested yet.

CCTV Footage

They say CCTV footage showing the entire incident has been leaked by a member of the public and is being shared on social media.

They've asked people not to watch the footage.

Detective Inspector Dave McCormack is leading the investigation: “We’re aware CCTV footage of the incident has been published online by a member of the public and is being shared on social media. We would ask people not to share this for obvious reasons.

"Behind this footage is real people; someone has lost their life and a family are left grieving.

“We have a team of detectives working on this enquiry and while we’re in the early stages of the investigation, we are following numerous leads. I would urge anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information concerning the people involved to come forward.”

Great Yarmouth Policing Commander, Superintendent Nathan Clark said: “We know this incident has caused concern among the local community, especially for such a level of violence to be used in the middle of a street during the day.

"I would like to reassure the public we are working hard behind the scenes to find the person or persons responsible, and we will keep people updated as the investigation progresses.”
