Great Yarmouth man jailed for more than six years after assault in Norwich

A man has been jailed for six and a half years after assaulting another man outside of a Norwich pub earlier this year.
36 year old Simon Ward, of Deneside in Great Yarmouth, carried out the attack on April 7 outside the Pear Tree on Unthank Road.
The victim had been drinking at the pub and had gone outside to smoke - asking Ward and a friend for a cigaratte.
Ward became aggressive before slashing the victim with a two inch blade. He suffered a 5cm cut to his cheek and had to be treated in hospital.
He was convicted at Norwich Crown Court and was sentenced on Friday (October 21).
DC Craig Weir of Norfolk Police, said: “The victim of this attack has suffered physical and emotional distress as a result of this incident, and I commend them for the bravery and resilience they have shown throughout this case.”
“This kind of violence will not be tolerated, and Norfolk police will seize on every opportunity to gather evidence and bring perpetrators of such crimes to justice.”
