Major operation underway in Great Yarmouth after car goes into river

Emergency services are on scene in Great Yarmouth after a car has been reported in the River Bure.

Police, coastguard, fire and ambulance services were called to the scene at 8.47am on Thursday and a cordon was put in place.

The owner of the vehicle has been accounted for.

The circumstances of how the car came to enter the water remain unexplained.

Police say enquiries are continuing.

A recovery operation is being mounted to retrieve the vehicle.
