A man has been charged following a 17-hour stand-off with police in Gorleston.
Officers were called to Potters Field in the Magdalen area of town shortly before 7.30am on Sunday (21 September) to reports a man had threatened his neighbour with a loaded crossbow.
Several resources, including armed, dog and drone units, attended the scene after the suspect locked himself inside his property and refused to leave.
A cordon was put in place and specialist negotiators also attended.
The man was detained by firearms officers just before 1.30am on Monday 22 September.
He was arrested and taken to Great Yarmouth Police Investigation Centre for questioning.
Subsequently, Darren Mahoney, age 53, of Potters Field, has been charged with affray and possession of an offensive weapon in a private place.
He has been remanded in custody to appear at Norwich Magistrates’ Court today.
The property was sealed off while police searches took place, these have now been completed and the cordon was removed on Monday afternoon.
