Former footballers from Norfolk and Suffolk are taking on local key workers this Sunday afternoon to raise money for MIND Norfolk and Waveney.

MG Legends Charity Team are facing The Essential Services from 2pm tomorrow at Walmer Road in Lowestoft, after a two-year hiatus curtsey of the pandemic.

The match is being sponsored by Paul Hubbard Estate Agents and the match ball sponsored by East Point Sports.

Mike Guymer has organised the event again and says the silverware both teams will be fighting for has a really special meaning to him and his friend:

"My Friend's dad died a few years ago and that is how this charity team started MG Legends Charity Team. We play for a trophy which is called the Sledgehammer trophy, which is dedicated to his dad. His little grandson Coby is going to present it, he's only a 2 or 3 year old lad and he's going to present the trophy".

He went on to tell us why he's gone to all the trouble of helping put the match on again:

"My wife used to work for the Norfolk and Suffolk Mental Health Department and there's not too many people that understand what's needed to cover mental health.

This is a time where everyone needs to really understand about mental health problems, I don't think people are aware about it enough and this is our chance to help local charity."

Mr Guymer concluded by thanking The Chairman of Kirkley and Pakefield FC, Paul Underdown for donating the pitch free of charge. Along with main sponsor Paul Hubbard and match official Barry Ereira.
