Two people have been fined a total of £600 for fly tipping in Watton.

A bin load of waste was dumped on a public grass area in Lovell Gardens in late April.

It had previously been refused collection as it contained non-recyclable items.

An investigation by Breckland Council found the house was a source of anti-social behaviour and had excess waste building up in the front garden.

One tenant was issued a £300 fine for fly tipping and another £300 fine was issue to a second tenant for the rubbish at the front of the property.

Councillor Gordon Bambridge, Breckland Council's Executive Member for Waste and Environment, said:

"Our crackdown on fly tipping continues and this latest case will have a positive impact on the community at Lovell Gardens. We have a zero-tolerance approach to this sort of behaviour and I sincerely hope this significant fine will make these residents reflect on their actions and discourage others from acting selfishly towards those around them."

Incidents of fly tipping in the Breckland area can be reported via the council's website.
