Famous faces join Norfolk mental health service campaign
We're all being told to reach out if we need help
Well-known faces across Norfolk are coming together to support the county's mental health services.
The NHS Wellbeing service offers support for those battling mental health conditions.
Jacqui Frost, who has used the service herself, wrote the poem that's being used in a video to promote the service.
She says:
"It's amazing that I scribbled down a few words after a meeting and it's being used. It's just absolutely wonderful and I just hope it gets people coming to the service."
The video is part of the 'Reach Out' campaign, developed by the NHS Wellbeing Service in Norfolk and Waveney in time for Mental Health Awareness Week 10-16 May.
A poem written by Jacqui Frost from west Norfolk inspired the campaign. Jacqui contacted the Wellbeing Service when she was struggling with her mental health and wants to encourage others to do the same.
Some of the local celebrities featured in the video have struggled with their own mental health and volunteered to take part to encourage others to access the help that is out there.
The famous faces involved include the likes of Darren Eadie, Cedric Anselin, Danny Nobbs and Maria Uzor.
Jacqui explains how she came to use the service:
"I didn't even get dressed.
"My husband would come home from work and I'd still be in my pyjamas sitting on the chair. And then it got even worse than that and I really didn't want to be here.
"My husband contacted my GP, who then referred me to the wellbeing service, which then gave me the tools to get myself better."
During mental health awareness week, the Wellbeing team are running extra online social events. There will be lunchtime quizzes, a 5 Ways to Wellbeing Workshop and virtual cafes where you can chat and meet with others in a safe, calm and friendly environment.
Poem by Jacqui Frost that inspired the campaign
Don't be afraid if you are feeling low
you're not the only one you know.
Help is here, it's quick and it's free.
Reach out, reach out. It's that easy.
If you're worried and anxious about anything at all.
No matter how big no matter how small.
Employment, family, stress and low mood
Don't sit at home and brood.
We don't judge, we listen we help and we care.
Reach out, reach out. Our service is here.
Help is here don't be afraid.
Asking will be the bravest step you have made.
You're just 3 clicks away from the help that you need.
We give you the tools and you take the lead.
