East of England store chain Roys of Wroxham says it won't be selling fireworks this year after listening to the concerns of customers.
It comes as many raised worries about the safety of selling pyrotechnics with both Halloween and Bonfire Night approaching.
There are also concerns about the welfare of pets and wild animals which can be startled by explosions at this time of year.
In a statement posted online, Roys said: "We are continually discussing product ranges, looking at what is in demand, what will be a beneficial addition to our stores and what may need to be removed."
"As an outcome of these discussions, Roys will not be selling fireworks this year.
"We thank you for your understanding."
The family-owned group of stores is based in Hoveton, but also has branches in Beccles, Thetford and Sudbury - among other places.
It remains an independently run business, over 100 years since its founding in 1895.
