A Suffolk construction company's hoping for a more predictable and less expensive 2022.

SEH French has previously built a Mental Health hospital in Kings Lynn, a primary school in Claydon, a library in Newmarket, and a factory in Snetterton over the last few years.

Simon Girling is the director of the company: "The year has been extremely challenging, obviously with Covid and dealing with the new ways of working . Plus ensuring the safety of our staff while also having the issues with supply chains.

"Cost is, I've never seen it in the thirty years of my time in the industry. The volatile state of the industry and material supplies is unprecedented and I've never seen it like before really."

He also told us that they're looking to bring more people into the firm: "I'm very keen on getting new and young people into the industry. To train them up and getting them into the construction industry. Currently there is a shortage in good qualified people."

But he concluded that there's there's still issues to overcome: "Obviously we've still got to deal with the joys of working through a pandemic, working through major material and labour shortages. I can only see that improving in the sense that it won't be as volatile as 2021, because I would like to think people have got to their new normal of how they'd like to work by now."
