East Anglia's hospitality sector is hoping for a 'bumper' three days of trade now Covid restrictions have been relaxed.

This is the first three day weekend that hasn't been restricted since the summer of 2019.

Andrea Briera from East Anglia's 'Campaign for Real Ale' said venues are pulling out all the stops to make it a success:

"I know various pubs that are putting on festivals, street parties and live music events. I hope this will help attract more people in."

She went on to say that it's "vitally important" that people go out and help support their local pubs and restaurants after 18 months of uncertainty and restrictions.

She hopes that with more people staying in Norfolk, due to on-going restrictions on international travel, hospitality businesses will "benefit from more trade than they would in a normal year".

She did, however, concede that many still don't feel its safe to go out. She said many pubs in the region are continuing to offer "takeaway services" and that people can continue to support their local this way if they like.

Andrea said:

"I'm sure the weather will play a part in who goes out", but said that if the bad weather came at the right time, it could actually end up driving people into pubs and other hospitality venues.
