A new mural in honour of former Norwich City captain and defender Duncan Forbes has been installed at Carrow Road.

It's on Geoffrey Watling Way and is set to be officially unveiled ahead of the home match against Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.

Forbes joined the Canaries in 1968 and ultimately spent 33 years with the club, on and off the pitch.

He made 366 apperances in Canaries colours during his 13 years playing for the club, before working as part of the commercial team and as a scout.

He also spent time at Norfolk sides Great Yarmouth Town and Diss Town.

Forbes passed away at the age of 78 in 2019 after a long battle with Alzheimer's.

In a statement on the Canaries website, the Forbes family read: “We would like to express our delight at the unveiling of the mural to commemorate Duncan’s achievements at the football club.

“We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to the club, its board and owners for their continued support through Duncan's illness and since his passing, which has been overwhelming.

“Duncan would be very proud to be remembered in this way and certainly was Norwich to the core.”
