Detectives given extra time to question suspects after Great Yarmouth assault

It comes after a man was attacked on Friday

Detectives have been given extra time to question two men arrested in connection with a serious assault in Great Yarmouth.

Last night (December 23), officers applied for a warrant of further detention at Norwich Magistrates Court, granting them an additional 24 hours to question a man in his 20s and an additional 36 hours to question a man in his 30s.

These warrants will expire tonight and tomorrow morning respectively.

A man in his 50s remains in a critical condition in Addenbrooke’s Hospital after being found with serious injuries on Regent Road on Friday afternoon (December 22).

Emergency services were called to the scene at 12.07pm and officers believe the assault took place inside a communal area in a block of flats on Malakoff Close.

Police cordons remains in place in Malakoff Close, as well as two other addresses in Ordnance Road and Russell Road, as enquiries continue.

Two men, aged in their 20s and 30s, have been arrested on suspicion of GBH and were taken to Great Yarmouth Police Investigation Centre for questioning.

Police are keen to hear from anyone who may have information concerning the incident or lives in the area of Malakoff Close and has CCTV.
