A new Deputy Lieutenant for the County of Norfolk has been appointed

Her Majesty The Queen has approved the appointment of Patrick Peal

Patrick Peal will support the work of the Lieutenancy and represent the Lord-Lieutenant at events throughout the county.

Having been chosen on the basis of service already given, a Deputy Lieutenant will continue to serve the community both within and outside the framework of the Lieutenancy.

"I never imagined in a million years that I might become the Deputy Lieutenant of Norfolk."

"It’s a huge honour and I’m absolutely thrilled. I can’t wait to get stuck in.”

Patrick is already involved in charities, including the East Anglian Air Ambulance, which he co-founded.

Although he will soon be retiring from his role as Chief Executive, he says he still plans to help out on a voluntary basis in the future.

“It’s been absolutely the best job you could possible imagined and the most rewarding…. "

"It’s an organisation that is very close to my heart, it’s in my blood.”

Patrick is also chairman of the London Children’s Camp providing holidays for disadvantaged children. After ten years work, it was revived in the grounds of Gresham’s School- where Patrick was a Governor for three years.

Other previous roles include Director, Vice-Chairman and Chairman of the Association of Air Ambulances.

The Lord-Lieutenant, Lady Dannatt commented: “I am delighted that Patrick has joined the Lieutenancy and brings with him a wealth of experience in many sectors and charities”

The main roles of a Lieutenancy including arranging Royal visits and presenting awards on behalf of her Majesty.
