Cyclist dies and driver arrested following Norwich crash

A man in his 20s has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and drink driving

A cyclist has died and a man has been arrested following a crash in Norwich.

Police were called to Watton Road, at the junction of Colney Lane, at 5.10am this morning (Thursday 9 November) following reports of a collision involving a black Mercedes CLA 200 and a pedal cyclist.

Both vehicles were travelling in the direction of Hethersett when the car collided with the cyclist.

The cyclist, a man aged in his 50s, died at the scene.

The driver of the Mercedes, a man aged in his 20s, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and for drink driving.

He was taken to Wymondham Police Investigation Centre for questioning, where he remains.

Multiple roads were closed whilst emergency services attended the scene, including ambulance.

They were lifted around 11am.
