Cromer Pavilion Theatre improvement works given final go-ahead

Major improvement works for a historic seaside theatre have been given the go-ahead.
Cromer pier’s Pavilion Theatre will see a series of improvement works to its bar, café and toilets under plans approved by North Norfolk District Council (NNDC).
The pier was built in 1901, with the theatre added four years later.
The plans will see the upgrading of the theatre’s toilets and the relocation of the accessible toilet to reduce the required travel for a wheelchair user.
It will also include increasing the internal floor space by enclosing two outdoor seating areas and replacing bar furniture.
Speaking at a development committee meeting on Thursday, councillor John Toye said it was a precious asset that needed protecting, calling the plans “proper and appropriate developments” which would bring it up to the needs of modern society.
Fellow councillor Angie Fitch-Tillet said she was “relieved” the project was happening.
“I think we all know that particularly when there is a show on the queue for the ladies almost reaches Cromer town,” she said.
“The more facilities we can have there the better.”
