Covid-19 puts Norfolk Scout groups at risk
Groups in the county have been named in a list of 500 at financial risk because of the coronavirus pandemic
Over 500 of the UK's Scout Groups are facing severe financial problems as a result of COVID-19 and now face uncertain futures.
Groups in Norfolk are included in the list, in response Scouts are launching a new major fundraising campaign.
It's called Race Round the World and challenges members of the Scouts to travel at least 172,000 miles collectively in their local areas.
The aim is to raise ÂŁ300,000 in sponsorship to make up for money lost when traditional fundraisers were cancelled this year due to the pandemic.
Matthew Burrell, County Commissioner for Norfolk Scouts, says: "In Norfolk we've got quite a large population of Scout groups that don't have their own premises, so they meet in community buildings, village halls, church halls. As we start to come out of lockdown and look at returning quite a few groups are finding that those meeting places are not readily available.
"Get yourself sponsored for Race Round the World. All that money we're ringfencing for the groups across the country that we've highlighted that we think are most being put at risk".
