A community-driven initiative by Broadland District and South Norfolk Councils has helped families across both districts save thousands of pounds this summer.

Due to its overwhelming success, the School Uniform Swap Shops scheme will continue in South Norfolk Council’s Leisure Centres, with Broadland District Council announcing plans to expand the project even further in 2026.

The initiative, which saw School Uniform Swap Shops hosted at leisure centres and community events, received a fantastic response from local residents. Dozens of families came together to donate, swap, and support the project, making it a true showcase of Norfolk community spirit.

In South Norfolk, swap shops at Wymondham Leisure Centre, Long Stratton Leisure Centre, and Diss Swim Centre rescued over 450 school uniform items—saving families an estimated £14,314.

In Broadland, swap shops at Acle Recreation Centre and pop-ups at Family Hubs Teddy Bear Picnics saved over 400 items, valued at £12,744.

That’s more than 850 uniform items given a second life—reducing waste, easing financial pressures for families, and strengthening community ties.

The uniform swap rails remain in place at all three South Norfolk leisure centres, ensuring ongoing support throughout the year. Meanwhile, Broadland District Council is planning more uniform swap pop-ups for next year, giving even more families the chance to participate.
