One person's been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving after a car meet in Norfolk.

Norfolk Police say over 200 vehicles were involved in anti-social behaviour across the county throughout the weekend of 8 and 9 July 2023.

As a result, officers have sent 87 warning letters to offending drivers.

Norfolk Police says these letters form part of an escalation model where initial warning letters can be followed by a Community Protection Notice, which if breached can lead to prosecution.

Further offences can then lead to Community Behaviour Orders or injunctions, which if breached can lead to arrests.

Details of those who are offending can also be passed onto their insurers which will affect their premiums and may lead to policy refusal.

One man, aged in his 20s was arrested on suspicion for dangerous driving and failing to stop.

He was taken to Wymondham Police Investigation Centre for questioning and later released on bail until 3 October 2023.

Officers also seized one vehicle, and issued eight section 59 warnings for using a vehicle in an anti-social manner.

11 Traffic Offence Reports (TORs) were also issued as a result of the various traffic offences committed over the weekend.

The vehicles travelled between various locations including Norwich, Attleborough, Taverham, Long Stratton and Thetford which resulted in a number calls from members of the public reporting incidents of speeding, noise disturbances and dangerous overtakes.

Inspector Will Drummond from the Roads and Armed Policing Team said: “It is unfortunate that people are choosing to disrupt our local communities and put their safety at risk.

“Our focus is on identifying these individuals and preventing them from interrupting events held safely by genuine car enthusiasts.”
