Local campaigners are heading to Liz Truss' office urging her to carry on backing a new hospital in West Norfolk
The former Prime Minister visited the Queen Elizabeth Hospital yesterday and wrote to the Health Secretary, calling for a new build.
"It might well be that she can pull in a few favours"
Jo Rust is a councillor for Springwood and has helped to organise the demonstration.
"We are going to be wearing our high-viz vests and hard-hats, and we will be taking clocks along with us because we want to demonstrate that Liz Truss has said she is going to spend more time in her constituency. We are also asking Helen Whately, minister for health who we believe has responsibility for the new hospital programme, what's the wait, Whately?".
"She Liz Truss needs to be see for herself the depth and breadth of the strength of feeling there is about the need for a new Queen Elizabeth Hospital. We know that she has been to see the hospital and it seems a little bit too little too late really. We want her to feel a part of our long running campaign".
"It might well be that she can pull in a few favours or go and have some corridor conversations with those decision-makers and put the pressure on".
What has the Government said?
The Department of Health say the shortlist of those that have made the 'New Hospital programme' will be announced before the end of the year.
