A former Bungay High School teacher has been banned from the classroom for life after being convicted of child sex offences.

39 year of Tristan Gasper, from Ipswich, admitted to three counts of sexual activity with a child who was a pupil at the school on March 24 2021.

He is now serving a two year suspended prison sentence.

The Teaching Regulation Agency, the regulator for the profession, has now issued an indefinite prohibition order against Mr Gasper, preventing him from returning to teaching.

Gasper was a DT teacher at Bungay High School before quitting in Feburary 2021.

An official report said Gasper's actions included "a significant degree of planning, grooming behaviour, and the specific targeting of a vulnerable child."

"The panel concluded that the teacher’s actions were deliberate, and he was not acting under duress. In fact, the panel found the teacher’s actions were planned, and he groomed Pupil A over a long period of time.

"Mr Gasper has committed extremely serious sexual offences involving a vulnerable child in his care."

The ruling means Gasper cannot work at any school, sixth form college, youth accommodation or children's home in England - he has the right to appeal.
