10 year-old paddleboarder rescued by Sheringham lifeboat crew
A boy spotted around half a mile off West Runton beach has been rescued by a local lifeboat crew.
Sheringham Lifeboat say they were mobilised by Humber Coastguard at 13:50 on Sunday 13th September to reports of a paddleboarder spotted off the coast of West Runton.
The 10 year-old was around half a mile off the beach and being carried further offshore by the wind and tide.
The crew say they firstly came across a swimmer trying to reach the child, and then continued out beyond the crab pot markers to intercept the paddleboarder.
They say he was sensibly holding the paddle board vertically to show the rescue team where he was.
The crew said on the way back the swimmer volunteered that he'd not made the best decision to swim offshore but felt helpless watching the youngster on the paddleboard drifting away in the distance.
No one was injured.
