The body of a man missing from Norfolk has been recovered from a river in Essex.

Essex officers found a man’s body on the morning of Sunday July 13 in the River Blackwater near Maldon.

Formal identification is still to take place, but the family of Neil Withnall, 47, who was reported missing from his home in Overstrand on the same day, have been informed.

A post-mortem examination will be held in due course and police are treating the death as unexplained but not suspicious. Officers will prepare a file for the coroner.
