A bid to re-open a West Norfolk village's last pub has been given a boost.

The Save the Blue Bell campaign has been handed two-and-a-half thousand pounds to support plans for locals to buy to Stoke Ferry pub and re-open it as community venue.

The cash has come from the Plunkett Foundation's 'More than a pub' programme.

Jim McNeil, who's part of the campaign, says it's going to make a huge impact for them:

"We want it to be a community-run pub, so all the shareholders will be local people, primarily, who will run the pub for their own benefit and for the benefit of every section of the community - not just the regular pub-goers.

"We need the pub because we need a meeting place - a place where we can meet and exchange ideas. Just a place to be generally friendly, because we are friendly Norfolkian people.

"It's more than just a pub."
