Bishop of Lynn shares top three tips for a Merry Christmas
It's Jane Steen's second festive message since she was consecrated into the role
The Bishop of Lynn has been sharing with us, her top three tips to having a very merry Christmas- this year.
It's come as part of Jane Steen's second festive message since she was consecrated into the role at Norwich Cathedral back in June 2021.
Ms Steen says music should be central to our celebrations:
"First, go to Church. The old carols will be there and singing our hearts out make us feel really good.
"The carols remind us that Christmas is about Jesus Christ who around 2,000 years ago showed us God.
"Jesus gave us a way of life that hasn't been bettered, a way based on love, hope and faithfulness."
She also told us it's important to remember why we celebrate on the 25th:
"Christmas simply takes the strain out of buying things in this difficult year with the cost of living crisis.
"Jesus was born among farm animals because his mother had nowhere to stay.
"Expensive presents and decorations aren't the true meaning of Christmas. The true meaning of Christmas is love, love that God has for us which is so great."
Ms Steen says now's the perfect time to reflect:
"Say a prayer to Jesus, a prayer of thanksgiving or to ask for something for yourself or somebody else.
"It doesn't have to be polished. Just say what you think, God always hears and try and get into the habit of it."
