A case of bird flu has been confirmed on a property near Snettisham.

The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs says, following official testing, the highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) H5N1 has been confirmed in captive birds at the the site in West Norfolk.

A 3km captive bird (monitoring) controlled zone has been declared surrounding the premises and the affected birds on the premises will be humanely culled.

It comes after housing measures already in place in Norfolk, Suffolk, East Riding of Yorkshire, City of Kingston Upon Hull, Lincolnshire, Shropshire, York and North Yorkshire, were yesterday extended to cover Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Cheshire, Merseyside and Lancashire.

These measures require all birds and poultry to be kept indoors.
