Bedford's Bar in Norwich has had its license revoked by Norwich City Council after videos emerged online showing people not sticking to Covid regulations.

The council said it was found that on the evening of Wednesday 4th November, which was just before the second national lockdown, that people in Bedford's were allowed to dance and no social distancing was being observed.

Following evidence heard at a licensing sub-committee hearing, it was agreed the bar would lose its license.

A spokesperson for the City Council said: "It is unfortunate that this decision has had to be made today but it was evident that the license holder failed to recognise the seriousness of the threat to public health that Covid-19 presents and the importance of behaving in accordance with legislation and guidance in order to control the spread of the virus.

“We hope this sends a message to others that breaching the regulations will be dealt with robustly to ensure everyone’s safety.

“Thank you to the public and the overwhelming majority of businesses that have continued to follow and respect all the Covid-19 government restrictions.”
