Barclays to close branch in North Norfolk

Barclays is to close a branch in a North Norfolk town later this year in a move branded 'ludicrous' by the local MP.
The branch in Hoveton, Wroxham, will shut its doors for the final time on December 1 as the banking giant claims msot customers have moved online.
In a document listing reasons for closing the branch, Barclays said just 11 people use the branch regularly.
It will leave Hoveton without any high street banks, with this being just the latest bank closure in rural Norfolk.
In a statement shared on social media North Norfolk MP Duncan Baker said: "I have already contacted Barclays requesting an urgent meeting to discuss what can be done to mitigate the impact of the closure."
"I will also be speaking to LINK, the banking hub providers, as this is the last bank in the location.
"I am furious that yet again, the big banks care not a jot for our rural communities, with no social responsibility.
"Whilst banking can be done at the local Post Office and online, we have many older residents who simply rely on the bank, and cannot go digital or travel miles to another branch.
"What makes this decision even more ludicrous are the busy tourist influxes Hoveton sees every single year.
"The bank is used - we all know it is."
Barclays said: “We plan to provide additional face-to-face access for banking services via one of our community locations – from the point of closure.
"Further details, including the timings and the location of the Barclays Local site, will be communicated to our regular customers in the coming weeks.”
