AstraZeneca donates £250,000 to East of England Ambulance Service to train paramedics
It'll pay for the training of 10 new ambulance service staff across the region
Vaccine manufacturer AstraZeneca has donated £250,000 to the East of England Ambulance Service (EEAST) - to assist with the training of the next generation of paramedics.
The funding will pay for a degree apprenticeship for ten trainee paramedics across the East.
The scheme is a two year course run by the University of Cumbria which allows trainees the chance to work on the frontline while earning a degree.
Chris McGregor, head of education and training at EEAST, said: “We are extremely grateful to AstraZeneca for the donation of the apprenticeship levy and partnership working is something we very much embrace at EEAST."
“The paramedic degree apprenticeship that we run with the University of Cumbria will play a key part in our workforce planning for the future so ensure we have a strong pipeline of staff becoming paramedics.”
