Police have launched an arson investigation after a large fire broke out at a former Norfolk football club.

Fire crews were called to the former Emerald Park ground in Gorleston at around 6:10pm last night (November 13), finding the changing rooms alight.

The flames were brought under control at around 12:06am this morning (November 14)

It's thought the fire was started deliberately and police have launched an appeal for witneses.

The Emerald Park ground is the former home of Gorleston Town Football Club, before they moved to ground-share with Lowestoft Town at Crown Meadow.

In a statement posted online, the Great Yarmouth MP Brandon Lewis said: " The fire service believes this was a deliberate fire."

"Unfortunately, this follows previous fires and vandalism at the site.

"On this occasion, fire crews attended from Great Yarmouth, Gorleston, Martham, Acle, Loddon, and Mundesley.

"If you have any information about this deliberate fire please contact the Police on 101."
