A man, aged in his 20s, has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving and failing to stop at the scene of a collision. He has been taken to Wymondham Police Investigation Centre for questioning, where he remains.

The arrest follows an incident that happened on the A134 Brandon Road at around 6.50pm on Monday (5 August) when a white Skoda Fabia was involved in a collision with a pedestrian and failed to stop at the scene.

The road was closed while emergency services attended including ambulance. The pedestrian, a young child, was taken to West Suffolk Hospital and later transferred to Addenbrookes, where they remain in a serious but stable condition. The road was reopened at around 7.40pm.

Roads and Armed Policing Sgt Peter Howlett said: “I would like to thank everyone who shared our appeal and has provided information to aid with our investigation.

“I would urge anyone who has not yet spoken to us to get in touch.”
