Arrest made following fire which caused gas explosion in Great Yarmouth

Police were called to reports of a fire at a building in Winterton-on-Sea this morning (17 January 2025).

Emergency services including police and fire were on scene at a property after reports of a fire at an outbuilding which had set alight to a nearby truck, car and propane gas canister.

As a precaution, a cordon was in place and four houses near to the scene were evacuated while the fire was safely dealt with, residents have now returned to their homes and the cordon has been taken down.

There were no casualties.

A man in his 20s has been arrested on suspicion of arson and taken to Great Yarmouth Police Investigation Centre for questioning.
