Norfolk Police issue fresh appeal after child injured in hit and run

The child is still in hospital in a serious, but stable condition

Police are renewing their appeal to locate a driver following a fail-to-stop collision in Thetford.

The incident that happened on the A134 Brandon Road at around 6.50pm on Monday (5 August) when a white Skoda Fabia was involved in a collision with a pedestrian and failed to stop at the scene.

The road was closed while emergency services attended including ambulance. T

he pedestrian, a young child, was taken to West Suffolk Hospital and later transferred to Addenbrookes, where they remain in a serious but stable condition.

The road was reopened at around 7.40pm.

A man, aged in his 20s, was arrested yesterday (7 August 2024) on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving and failing to stop at the scene of a collision. He was taken to Wymondham Police Investigation Centre for questioning and has since been released under investigation.

Roads and Armed Policing Sgt Peter Howlett said: “We are still working though a number of enquiries to locate the outstanding driver.

“It is important that anyone with any information, no matter how small or seemingly insignificant, gets in touch.”
