Norfolk and Norwich based supporters of animal rights group Animal Rising staged a protest yesterday outside Yarmouth Greyhound track.

The protest was part of a nationwide day of Greyhound track protests organised by Animal Rising; calling for an end to Greyhound racing in the UK, highlighting that the sport does not align with the animal-loving values we hold as a society.

Around 14 supporters gathered outside Yarmouth’s Greyhound Racetrack yesterday at around 6pm.

It was reported that supporters of the group spoke with spectators as they made their way into the racetrack; explaining how dogs should experience lives filled with love and happiness, instead of being muzzled, exploited and forced to risk injury or death. Its thought that around 120 greyhounds died in 2021, with the number of deaths in 2022 yet to be released.

The action demonstrated yesterday, mirrored similar protests across the UK.

The next demonstration is planned for July 1, when Towcester host the Greyhound Derby Final.
