Anglian Water says it's going to connect a Norfolk village up to the sewage network for the first time ever.

£3.8m will be spent on the project for Wormegay - south of King's Lynn - with construction set to start later this month.

Two kilometres of brand-new sewer pipes and a new vacuum station will be installed, with the process expected to take around a year to complete.

It's hoped an upgrade to the drainage system will also cut pollution.

Molly McKie, spokesperson for Anglian Water said, “Following investigations in the area, the assessed findings found that the current drainage systems were not working correctly and there was a high risk of pollution in the area.

“We are delighted to be able to deliver these projects for the residents of Wormegay. This will not only enable them to simplify their wastewater disposal, but also protect the area from flooding and pollutions in the future. We would like to thank everyone for their patience while we are working in the area.”

During this work, Anglian Water says it will need to close some roads in order to keep its engineers and other road users safe.

Below are details of the plans:

06 November 2023 to 16 April 2024 - Castle Road – Road Closure

12 December to 14 December 2023 - Saxon Way – Give and Take

17 April to 20 May 2024 - Bardolph’s Way – Road Closure
