Almost £50m secured to improve bus services across Norfolk
Norfolk County Council has been successful in bidding for new funding from the government
Norfolk County Council has secured £49.55m in funding from the government to improve local bus services.
Last October the local authority published a Bus Service Improvement Plan, outlining a range of different improvements planned over the next five years.
The government has now confirmed it will help out with funding.
The final plan includes lower fares for under-25s, work to install new bus lanes, more real-time information about where buses are and new and more frequent services.
There will also be improvements to local bus stations and bus stops.
Councillor Martin Wilby, of Norfolk County Council, said:
“I’m thrilled to hear that we have now secured this funding for Norfolk and look forward to seeing some of our plans being delivered to create an improved bus service for both residents and visitors of the county."
"Since being notified of the indicative allocation from the DfT our team has worked hard alongside bus operators to provide all the information and create the robust plan that was required to secure the funding.”
