Norfolk's Alfie Hewett has lost his singles wheelchair tennis semi-final match against the Netherlands' Tom Egberink.

The match lasted just short of two hours and was concluded in two sets. Mr Hewett lost the first set 6-4 and the second 6-7.

Despite this defeat he'll still have an opportunity to secure a Bronze medal in this competition before the games conclude on September 5th.

Tomorrow he'll also be partnering up with Gordon Reid in the men's doubles. The pair will be third on centre court and playing for gold against France's Stephane Houdet and Nicolas Peifer.

James Day, Mr Hewett's former PE teacher told us he's so proud of what he's achieved: "I follow him on social-media and while he's always been incredibly famous locally, I think he's transcended that now."

He went on to tell us that ever since he has known Alex, he's always "very focussed and committed".

He concluded by saying that he's very confident his former pupil will win gold tomorrow- "He's won so much already and I almost expect it now. If he keeps doing what he's doing, he can go very far. He is the classic case of if you work hard and you focus, you'll get the results"
