The A47 to the west of Norwich will close overnight for nearly a week with a 70 mile diversion. The road between Easton and Honingham will shut with temporary traffic lights as National Highways carry out work to reduce the risk of flooding.

National Highways are installing new water tanks to limit the flood risk on this vulnerable strecth of the road.

The section has flooded at least eight times since last October.

A spokesman said the road will close from 8 until 6 every night until June 21st.

A diversion route will be in place along: A47 Thickthorn, A11 Barton Mills, A1065 to Swaffham and visa versa.

Drivers have been advised to take extra time for their journeys and consider other routes.
