A six year-old from Norwich, has become the first person in the county to complete the Platinum Jubilee Norfolk Challenge.

As part of the physical challenge, (Being Active in Norfolk), Ezra Minter walked from Cromer to West Runton and also completed a treasure hunt around Dunwich Heath and beach with his cousins.

For the environmental challenge (Protecting our Environment), Ezra grew sunflowers, cucumbers and sweetcorn from seed and also tended tomato, strawberry and chilli pepper plants in the family’s garden.

To complete the learning challenge, (Learning Legacy), Ezra visited the Tolhouse and Time & Tide Museums, to learn about historic life in Great Yarmouth, and the Museum of Norwich at the Bridewell, to learn about the history of his home city.

Ezra fulfilled the community challenge aspect, (Celebrating the Jubilee), by making his own crown, and decorations for his family’s Jubilee party. A creation he plans to wear his crown when his family visits Sandringham over the Jubilee weekend.

Ezra’s mum Jennifer, who works as a Sensory Support worker for Norfolk County Council, said: “Ezra has really enjoyed completing the Jubilee Challenges, which he heard about through his school. He was very excited to hear he’s the first person in Norfolk to complete them, and wants to put the bunting for the Jubilee up early!”

Patrick Peal DL, who is organizing the Challenge Awards on behalf of the Lord-Lieutenant’s committee, said: “Many congratulations to Ezra on being the first person to complete the Platinum Jubilee Challenge. He’s set a brilliant example for what we hope will be thousands of young (and young at heart) people across Norfolk to follow.”
