46 new affordable homes planned in Wisbech
The plans are for land off Barton Road
Plans to build a new development of ‘affordable homes’ in Wisbech have been published.
The 46 homes are proposed to be built on land off Barton Road, backing onto Magazine Lane.
An application has been submitted by Ashwood Homes to Fenland District Council asking for permission to build the development.
The houses are proposed to be a mix of one to four-bedrooms, and will have a minimum of two car parking spaces per house.
All of the homes are planned to be made available as ‘affordable housing’, with 28 designated for affordable rent, and 18 planned as shared ownership.
The application said the land had previously been used as a garden nursery, but said it had been vacant for the last few years while planning applications had been made.
A separate application has also been made to build a care home on the site. The care home is proposed to be built looking onto Barton Road, with the houses built behind it. The plans include proposals to create a “landscape buffer” between the care home and the rest of the development.
Cars and other vehicles will only be able to access the proposed development from Barton Road, but a footpath access to Magazine Lane is included in the plans.
In planning documents submitted as part of the planning application, it said the development was a “high quality scheme”, which would create an “attractive” place to live.
