Man fighting for life after M66 crash
It happened in Bury last night
A man's fighting for his life in hospital, after a crash on the M66 in Bury last night (Monday 16 January).
Greater Manchester Police say that at around 7:15pm they received reports of a serious crash between two vehicles on the northbound carriageway.
Emergency services attended and a man in his 30s was taken to hospital with life threatening injuries.
The driver of the second vehicle remained at the scene and assisted officers with their investigation.
PC Karl Horner from GMPs Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “Officers and emergency services worked tirelessly to try and clear the scene and create a safe route for passengers.
"We were aware that the incident caused significant delays and I would like to thank the public for their patience.
"We would also like to appeal to any witnesses of this accident, or anyone who has dash-cam footage and was driving on the M66 northbound minutes before the incident, to come forward.
"No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing. If you can help, then please contact our Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 0161 856 4741, quoting incident 2976 of 16/01/2023.
