Woman suffers serious injuries in unprovoked attack in Bolton

A 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder

A man is being questioned by detectives after a 23 year old woman was attacked in Breightmet, in Bolton.

The first report was received by police at 2.25am on Sunday morning, to an incident on Crossdale Road.

The woman was taken to hospital with injuries described as 'serious but not believed to be life-threatening or life-changing'.

A 25-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder and remains in custody for questioning.

DS Neil Moss of Bolton CID said "This was an horrific attack which has left a young woman in hospital with serious injuries.

"We are continuing our investigations to establish the full circumstances of the events and there is increased police activity in the community to provide reassurance.

"I want to appeal to anyone who may have CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage from Crossdale Road at the time of the incident to get in touch with us.

"I also urge anyone who may have found themselves in a threatening situation with a man within the Breightmet area of Bolton to get in touch with us.
